Aging with Grace

I put out my Christmas Village last week. Last year it stayed packed away. We weren’t going to be entertaining in the middle of a pandemic and it takes some time and effort to get it set up. Maybe I was motivated this year because I’ve invited a couple of friends over for Christmas Tea. Anyway, I dragged the box out and got it organized.

As is typical of me, I didn’t just place the buildings on the sideboard and call it done. I not only thought about if the placement is visually pleasing, I considered what would work best for the villagers. Yes, by villagers, I really am talking about the tiny occupants living there. The coffee shop is placed next to the church because, after the service, some of the parishioners will want to stop to visit with their friends and get something hot to drink. It is wintertime.

I want to make sure the Christmas Village is a good place to live for all it’s occupants. If you are wondering about my state of mind, as you read this, there are a couple of things to consider. First, I’m a writer and there is always a story. Second, this is an opportunity for me to be in control. Not just of how I view the situation, but how it plays out. Don’t tell me one of the villagers was burnt when she spilled hot coffee on herself and is suing the owner of the coffee shop. I don’t want to hear it.
