Never travel faster than your guardian angel can fly.
Mother Teresa
Yesterday, Hugo, our Poochon, and I went for our usual morning walk. Wandering through our neighborhood streets, the grass looks like straw and there is no need for a jacket with temperatures in the low 70’s. Yes, Virginia, global warming is real. Usually we have snow by this time of year and temperatures should be thirty degrees cooler.
But, I digress. As I was walking along, enjoying the late morning warmth, I suddenly found myself laying on the cement. Attempting to pull Hugo way from were I didn’t want him to go, I tripped on a rise in the sidewalk and fell flat on my face. I got up as fast as I could, hoping no one saw me and took a minute to re-group. Everything hurt, especially my nose. Fortunately, nothing seemed to broken.
As I limped back home, I was annoyed at Hugo for misbehaving and as I walked on I became irritated with my guardian angel. “Were you on a coffee break?”, I thought. “Did you not notice I was about to fall on my face?” Somewhere in the back of my mind I heard a voice say, “Do you have any serious injuries?” Well, no, I didn’t. Maybe, my guardian spirit was there.
I don’t know how angels work. When they step in or when they don’t. I do know that I have been saved on many occasions by mine and I am grateful. Maybe, that’s all I have to know.
