Starting

Bunny at the Gardens

You don’t have to be amazing to start, but you have to start to be amazing.

Zig Ziglar

As a child, when my mother wanted me to do something, she would sometimes tell me to be, “Quick like a bunny”. As an adult , I admit to often procrastinating. It can be as simple as going through the mail or as difficult as sitting down at the computer to write, when a voice in my ear is telling me there are fifteen other things I should be doing. Being quick about starting isn’t always my strong suit.

I heard the Zig Ziglar quote, written above, on a commercial. I can’t tell you what product was being advertised, so I guess from that standpoint it wasn’t too successful. On the other hand, it did cause me to look up the quote. How many of us could accomplish amazing things, if we begin? It reminds me of my friend’s daughter. She is a talented quilter and I am in awe of her beautiful quilts. The thing is, for that marvelous quilt to exist, she had to sit down at the sewing machine and start to sew.

“Whatever you can, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it” has been attributed to several different authors. Whoever wrote it, the advice is good. We will never know that amazing things we could accomplish if we don’t start.

  1. Oh yeah. We often overthink things. But who knows what we could’ve achieved had we actually started instead of just putting things on the backburner? Great points here. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Great quote! It reminds me of, “Better done, than perfect.”
