For what it’s worth: It’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, you have the strength to start over.
F. Scott Fitzgerald
For as long as I remember, I wanted to go to Paris. Because of a generous birthday gift from my husband, when I was in my early sixties, I was able to go. I traveled with a friend and it was not without second thoughts and guilt that I finally got on the plane. I was going without my husband and it was an expensive gift. After assurances that after spending time traveling all over the world on business, he had no desire to go on the trip, I had the peace of mind to go.
I would add to the F. Scott Fitzgerald quote above,”It’s never too late to realize your dreams”. Take the trip, make the move, experience the things that are important to you. Don’t look back one day with regret for those things you wish you had done.
I have traveled for business and taken many family trips, still that visit to Paris remains one of the most cherished moments in my life. The experience was everything I dreamed it would be. Every preening cliche ever written about the city proved true. I cherished it then and I still do today. Had I decided to stay home, I would have denied myself an experience I will cherish forever.
