Aging with Grace

This week reminded me of an old country song from the 70’s, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden. Message received. Rose gardens are not promised and can, on occasion, be replaced by a large patch of weeds. Over the past few days, I’ve been doing lots of weeding.

Have you ever felt strongly about taking an action, later second guessing if you made the right decision? Maybe it didn’t have the desired reaction or someone undermined what you had done. Sometimes you have to have the courage of your convictions. You have to have the confidence to do what you believe is right, even though other people may not approve.

I will be the first to say to you that I have not always held firm to what I believed. It’s often easier and definitely less painful to back down. But, on occasion there is a voice whispering in your ear telling you not to give up. That’s when you remember there is a rose garden under all those weeds.
