Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.

John Wooden

I had almost finished my blog for this week when I changed my mind about what I was going to write. Much of my decision was influenced by the challenge we’re facing with the Coronavirus pandemic. This is a difficult time for all of us. We are dealing with something we’ve never dealt with before and many of us are at an age which makes us more susceptible to serious illness. Having said that, I think we should be somewhat measured in our response. We can take steps to affect what we have control over. Worrying about what is out of our control is not going to help.

I’ve noticed over the past few days, we are bombarded with news about the virus. It’s good to be aware of what is going on, however listening to the same thing over and over is disheartening. Maybe, picking a time of day to listen to the news and then choosing to listen to music or something more uplifting isn’t a bad idea. Being stressed is not good for our health.

This might be the time to be kind to ourselves. Buy some flowers, get a bottle of that wine we like, take a bubble bath, binge watch a television series we’ve been wanting to see or, one of my favorite ways to spend time, catch up on reading the stack of books that’s piled up next to the chair.

We can’t change what’s happening in the world around us. We can have an effect on what’s going on in our personal space. Be well.
