And then one day I decided that hurry and stress were no longer going to be part of my life.

Many of us would agree that the Holidays can be a stressful time. It seems that when we get to October, the year is over before we know it. One minute we’re carving pumpkins and the next we’re opening champagne to celebrate the New Year. What happens in-between becomes a blur. Planning Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas decorating, shopping, wrapping gifts, social gatherings, make time speed by. Our planner becomes overflowing with to-dos.
Every year my goal is to spend more time enjoying the season and less stressing over the mechanics of getting there. Entertaining during the Holidays is something I enjoy. I think the key might be to set priorities. To choose those things that mean the most to us and bring happiness to those around us. Maybe instead of a sit-down Thanksgiving dinner for eight we could just make a reservation somewhere? The important thing is spending time together. As I mentioned last week, I love hosting Christmas Tea. I’m looking forward to having it, again, this year. There could be other things we can compromise on. It might not be necessary to bake a dozen different kinds of of cookies. Find a good bakery and buy some things from them.
This year, I’m making it a point to slow down and enjoy this special time of year. My goal is to be able to look back, when we’re popping the cork on that bottle of champagne on New Year’s Eve , and remember the good times we shared together during this Holiday Season.
