Slowly, I Return
I lost myself in noise and speed,
In chasing things I didn't need.
But now I walk a softer lane-
One stitched with peace instead of pain.
I don't arrive in grand display,
I show up gently day by day.
A breath, a step, a choice to stay-
That's how I find my healing way.
No need for loud, no need for race,
Just learning how to hold my space.
And every time I choose to learn,
A part of me begins to turn.

Reading this poem, I realize that it might be who I aspire to be, not who I actually am. It sounds like a grand plan, filled with lofty ideals and dreams that shine brightly in my mind, but it’s also possible that it might be difficult to live up to. The journey towards becoming that ideal version of myself is filled with challenges, uncertainties, and moments of doubt that can easily overshadow the vision I hold. I often find myself questioning if I possess the strength and persistence required to bridge the gap between my current self and the person I want to become.
I’m not sure if we always present ourselves authentically. In a world that often encourages us to wear masks, it can be challenging to navigate the expectations imposed upon us by society, peers, or even ourselves. Many feel the pressure to conform, adapting their personalities and appearances to fit into specific roles. Yet, there is a certain beauty in authenticity; those who embrace their true selves often find deeper connections and more meaningful interactions with others. It’s a complex dance of self-expression and acceptance, where the desire to be liked can sometimes overshadow the courage needed to simply be who we are.
I don’t believe the perfect life exists. We all face trials and tribulations, navigating through a world filled with uncertainties and challenges. Each of us encounters moments that test our resolve, whether those moments are personal struggles, professional setbacks, or emotional upset. Despite these obstacles, we do the best we can to find a way through, drawing upon our inner strength and resilience.
In fact, it is often in the face of adversity that we discover our true selves and what we are truly capable of achieving. Our journeys are filled with lessons that can transform us, shaping our perspectives and deepening our understanding of life. The process of overcoming difficulties can lead us to a stronger sense of identity, compassion, and empathy for others who are going through similar experiences.
It seems like the only option we have, then, is to persevere. By facing life’s challenges head-on, we not only work to come out the other side better than we started, but we also learn to appreciate the beauty in the struggle. The pursuit of happiness becomes less about attaining an unattainable ideal and more about finding meaning in our experiences, no matter how imperfect they may be.
Peace be with you.
