There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.
Jane Austen
A family Fourth of July table. Demitasse for a European feel. Ann Estelle, dressed for March, looking down from the side of refrigerator. Cupcakes made during one of my rare moods to bake something. Postcards from art exhibits I’ve been to, hung from a string. This is all part of our home.
Yes, Ann Estelle does have an outfit for each month. A friend once asked me if I was okay, when she noticed that Ann Estelle was still wearing last month’s clothes. I think this is a carryover from my love of paper dolls. As a child, I played with them for hours.
Home is very important to me. If given the choice between travel and home, I would choose home without thinking twice. I grew up with just my grandparents and me. I think it’s one of the reasons I tend to be an introvert. I’m perfectly happy by myself, sitting at home, reading a book.
As years go by, I’ve found the things that are important to me or make me happy and that’s what I surround myself with. Much of it has a story. For me, that’s what makes a home.
I hope wherever you live, when you walk in the door, you have a sense of peace that can only be found at home.
