Trust

Denver Botanic Gardens

All the world is made of faith and trust, and pixie dust.

J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

Trust enters are lives in many ways. We have faith that God will see us through whatever trials we’re facing. We have confidence our institutions will do what they are set up to do and will not fail us. We believe in those we depend on to love and protect us. Sometimes, we are disappointed.

Trust is broken and mending the break is not easy. We ask God for something that is not granted and we wonder if our prayers are heard. We trust in our legal system to right a wrong or to uphold justice and it fails us. We rely on a partner, our children, other family members and friends, to standby us during difficult times, sadly, we are disappointed by their refusal or inability to do so. Our faith is fragile and can be easily shattered.

I hear about people who claim to have unshakeable trust and I am skeptical. As envious as I am of the idea, for me, trust is a process. Confidence is sometimes broken and work is needed for it to be regained. For me, the main thing is continue the work.

  1. I can trust God. He’s never let me down. Even when my prayers seem unanswered at times, I find out later on that not answering is actually an answer. People disappoint, but not my God. 🙂

      1. Oh darling….I’m still working on the unfailing part. Haha There is no need for shame. It’s part of being human and I believe it’s a natural instinct to worry. Worry is future thinking and we have no control over the future, so to stay in the present moment, I hand my worry over to God. It still creeps up, but it takes less time to pray than worry, and handing it over creates a space for peace of mind. ❤
