All wisdom was the result of listening to one’s soul.
Paulo Coelho
The girl in the green chair is from the card for a gallery opening I received many years ago. When I saw the painting at the exhibit, I realized, as much as I loved it, I could not afford to buy it. I kept the card and eventually framed it. It sits on the mantel above our fireplace and I am still touched by it every time I see it. Unfortunately, I no longer remember the name of the artist.
It seems the girl in the chair is trying to disappear. Hiding in plain sight comes to mind. Maybe, she is trying to blend into the background and listen to the voice inside her. Call it conscience, inner voice or our guardian angel speaking to us. We usually get the message if we take time to listen. Paying attention to what is being said and acting upon it is often the problem. There have been many times my intuition has told me something I have chosen to ignore at my own peril. I think we don’t always trust ourselves enough and become too caught up in the noise around us. Listening is an important skill, even when we are listening to ourselves.
