You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.

Happy New Year! Now that the holidays are past I’m ready for spring. I would like to wake up on January second and see bulbs beginning to sprout and the lawn showing patches of green. No, I am not interested in moving to a warmer climate. I just want spring to begin in January. I would like to have snow and cold for the holiday season and then I want it to be done. I saw pots filled with daffodils, hyacinth and crocus in the store yesterday and I considered bringing them all home and filling the house with the sites and smells of spring. Unfortunately, I realize I’m stuck with at least another three months of winter weather.
I am not good at resolutions. I have in mind some ideas for things I would like to accomplish in the new year, I just don’t like the finality of putting them in writing. I use a planner, religiously, and I love the feeling of accomplishment when I can look at lots of checks next to what I have completed. I have no sense of guilt if I am forced to move a task I didn’t get done to the next day. I just don’t want to see those same resolutions staring at me for the next twelve moths.
I do like the idea of the year ahead being a fresh page. It can be whatever we want it to be. We can push the re-set button on our dreams, goals and even past regrets. This new year can be what we choose it to be. Whatever gets in the way we will have the option to deal with and move on.
