Lilies in my Living Room
Life is full of unpredictable beauty and strange surprises.
Mark Oliver Everett
I’ve now started two posts featuring photos of flowers. This might seem contradictory, considering I mentioned in a previous post, Gardening and Housekeeping, that I don’t enjoy gardening. It’s true that I don’t particularly like gardening, but I absolutely adore flowers. There’s always a bouquet of beautiful blooms somewhere in my house. There are many things I would give up to save money, but cut flowers are not one of them.
Last week, I visited the grocery store and stumbled upon a few stems of tight buds of lilies, their delicate green stems standing tall among the vibrant array of flowers. I usually don’t buy them because they don’t last long, and I’ve often found myself disappointed when the beauty fades too quickly. However, I decided to take a chance. To my surprise, a few days later, the buds opened into magnificent blooms the size of saucers, their soft petals unfurling to brighten my home. The sweet fragrance wafted through the room, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. At that moment, I didn’t care how long they survived; I was simply delighted to enjoy them for as long as I could, allowing the tranquil sight to lift my spirits each time I walked by.
At my age, I confess to being cynical about many things, having witnessed the disappointments and disillusionments life often brings. However, it is truly delightful to still encounter something that surprises me in such a profound way. It’s as if God has gently tapped me on the shoulder and whispered, “You don’t know as much as you think you do; there are still miracles waiting for you.” These moments of unexpected joy remind me that life is full of possibilities, where even the smallest occurrences can lead to monumental revelations that ignite hope and wonder within me. They serve as reminders that amid the chaos and routine, a sense of magic remains, waiting to be discovered if only I open my eyes and heart to it.
Peace be with you.

I m not a passionate gardener either but I like to keep my garden in order and with flowers according to the season as much as I always have fresh flowers in the house and usually Lillie’s in the hall so their lovely scent hide the doggies smell😉

⭐️ I admire your organized garden. We live in a condo with limited outdoor space. I am thinking about some mums on the terrace this fall.

Pot flowers on the terrace are as beautiful as on the ground in a garden and makes the difference when you sip your coffee or tea looking at them🥰good luck with the mums💕

I agree…there’s other expenditures I’d give up before fresh cut flowers. The scent of the Lily is intoxicating and I’m so glad you took a chance. You never know how long they will stay pretty after opening, so they definitely encourage you to enjoy the moment. 💞
