I don’t believe in aging. I believe in altering one’s aspect to the sun.
Virginia Woolf
I am approaching another birthday and reflecting on how rapidly years disappear. We eventually arrive where we were headed from the beginning. Aging is inevitable.
The conundrum of aging came onto the horizon, once again, while attending a Neighborhood Watch meeting. During a discussion about installing more crosswalks, a young woman mentioned her concern for old ladies crossing the street. I recognize the intention of the remark was meant as helpful and an honest representation. However, it’s not particularly flattering.
Old has become an undesirable word. Unless you’re wine, it’s not a complementary description. Myriads have been written on the subject of aging. The bottom line is attitude and acceptance. Age does not prevent us from living a life filled with grace, dignity and refinement. We can decide for ourselves the definition of old.
But just think…one day the young lady who made the comment will be on the receiving end, if she’s blessed with a long life such as yourself. Birthday’s for me, really are another trip around the sun with each one being more magical than the preceding year. Happy early birthday, my lovely. You are a gift. 🧡
Two of your thoughts really hit me! “The bottom line is attitude and acceptance.” and “We can decide for ourselves the definition of old.” Wow, they really hit home. Thanks.
Oh, that’s a good way of looking at it. AGing is gonna happen no matter what. Can fight it all you want. No one has ever completely beaten it. May as well “go through it.” Ha, ha.

⭐️ Aging is a touchy subject for many. Who said,”Can’t go over it, cant’t go under it, can’t go around it. Might as well go through it.”?
