Again and again I tell God I need help, and God says, “Well isn’t that fabulous? Because I need help too. So you go get that old woman over there some water, and I’ll figure out what we’re going to do about your stuff.” – Anne Lamott
The vintage record player was a Christmas gift from my husband and my son. I am attracted to its connection to the past and enjoy wandering through second hand stores looking for old records. An album of Isaac Stern directing the Philadelphia Orchestra playing violin concertos by Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn sits at the front of the record stand. Classical music isn’t something I listen to often or am I very knowledgable about it. I can’t tell you what led me to it. Yet, after I first listened to the album, I play it every morning. It brings me peace.
A friend gave me a book titled, Almost Everything- Notes on Hope by Anne Lamott along with an encouraging message about my writing. Over the past few days, I have taken the book off the shelf and reread bits and pieces. All of us need to have hope. It’s there within us, we just need to resurrect it.
I love Anne Lamott’s admonishing words about prayer. It’s a good reminder that not everything is about us. Sometimes we need to take a look at the bigger picture.
My prayers are often answered in little ways. A record album, a book from a friend, or even a short text message forwarding an article or a quote. Small blessings that makes a difference in my day. Somedays God may not have the time or inclination for a grand gesture. He has a lot going on. I am not the only star in His universe.

Not the only star but one if the brightest.
Your reminders of how the small things can bring us hope is a valuable message. Thank you.

“It’s a good reminder that not everything is about us. Sometimes we need to take a look at the bigger picture.” I really love these two lines, but umm, what do you mean, everything isn’t about me? I want my ice cream and I want it now or else I’m going to stomp my feet and throw a tantrum. Ha ha ha. No, no, some wise words. Thanks for the reminder! 😊

Wait! I want ice cream, too. God has a big job, dealing with us. It’s a good thing he’s up to it. I always enjoy hearing from you. ⭐️

I have a bad feeling that God looks down and says to St Peter: “what’s with that Brian guy — complaining and whining again!!! Geesh!” Ha ha, yes, he’s got a tough job. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
