Days Gone By

The Past Weeks

“He sat quietly for a moment, lost in what was now and forever the past. The scene he described would never be repeated. That overheard sound would never be heard again.”

Louise Penny, The Beautiful Mystery

My desktop computer died a slow and anguished death. A couple of weeks ago, I realized, after many years of service, it was gone. I was forced to face a task I was not looking forward to. Finding a replacement. Fortunately, I had a birthday coming up and my husband saved me from my angst, offering to buy me a new computer.

So, long story short, or perhaps short story long, I am back with some new insights into how I envision this space. My hope is that what I write, here, might touch someone, out there, in a positive way.

Looking back on the past few weeks, I am happily surprised at all that’s happened. Birthday celebrations for both family and friends, as well as new baby. A family brunch at my son’s and lunch with a dear friend. A visit to the Botanic Gardens to view the spring bulbs. And one of the most jarring, for me, replacing the tiny television in our living room with a sixty-five inch, giant television.

I have to admit, although I wasn’t sure about the idea of a new tv, I am enjoying it. I recently watched the Ken Burn’s documentary, Benjamin Franklin. Followed by the movie, Franklin starring Michael Douglas. Quite different from seeing them on the tiny television we had.

So, time speeds by, leaving only memories in its path. A reminder to treasure every moment before they are gone.

  1. I went shopping for a second laptop after Christmas last year and was amazed at all of the men coming out of the store, smiling, because of the ginormous flat screen following behind them. It makes a difference and I hope you love your new computer. Your blog looks fantastic and fresh! ๐Ÿ’œ
