This quote is all I have to offer on this cold, February day. Every era has its difficulties. Emerson’s insight is worth considering during our own challenging times. My interpretation of this quote is, the more one speaks of virtue, the more suspicious we grow of their sincerity. Maybe, now is the time to count our spoons.

Yes, it is not only because of necessity in meeting these challenging times but, in my opinion, the wisdom of age awards us with a more jaundiced eyed. That is one of the gifts of experiencing years of life on this Earth.

I did get your comment this time. The Gods must be smiling on us today. Yes, we do have the advantage of experience. Age does have some perks, I guess.

We are fortunate, that the gods are with us.
There are definitely perks. All the better, if we are if round minds and body.
If we are not so fortunate, good attitude is very helpful and surrounding ourselves with people, who are genuine is advantageous.

I find it hilarious that a quote from a guy, who died 141 years ago, could be so profound and in tune with today’s times. So very appropriate and wise. I had never heard this quote, thanks for sharing!
