Variety

Patio Flowers

Variety is the spice of life, that gives it all it’s flavor.

William Cowper

You may be getting whiplash reading this if you read last week’s post. One week it’s school shootings and the next it’s planters filled with flowers. As I wrote when I began this blog, I plan to cover a variety of topics. We all have many sides to who we are, many different interests and opinions. This week it’s the joy of nature.

I have never been much of a gardener. Northern Wisconsin has a very short growing season. The extent of my grandparents gardening, when I was growing up, was some shrubs and a few lilac bushes. When I lived in a house of my own I attempted growing things with mixed success. Now all I have room for is a few planters and I am able to mange that.

My sister writes to me about her yard and herb garden. I envy her ability to make things grow. I think part of my lack of success is that I’m not very patient and gardening can’t be rushed. My failure at making things grow doesn’t stop me from enjoying the beauty of nature. It might be one of the reasons I spend so much time at the Botanic Gardens. I admire what others have created.

  1. Working with plants and flowers does grow patience. It’s a never-ending process of, ‘slow down and wait for it.’ Your flower’s are beautiful and I would work with the space you’ve been given. I don’t have much fortune with herbs, and I’ve learned no matter how hard I try I cannot make a flower bloom. 🀩 It will bloom when it’s darn good and ready and usually when I least expect it! πŸ’–

      1. I don’t know lovely because I’ve filled a graveyard with plants. I think it’s more my ‘never give up’ attitude! πŸ˜‚ They know I’m relentless so they might as well perform. πŸ’–
