Stop looking at today through yesterday’s lens. Adjust your focus and create life in living color.

Today is October first. Stores have been filled with Halloween candy and decorations for weeks. Autumn is here. I have always felt that, at this time of year, one day we are carving pumpkins and the next we’re toasting the New Year. The last months of the year seem to fly by in a blur. There are so many things going on, so much to do.
Of course, this year is different. Many of the holiday celebrations and events we have looked forward in years past, may not happen. All is not lost. Let’s focus on Halloween and Thanksgiving, for now
I have it on my calendar to get tickets for, Glow at the Gardens. The Denver Botanic Gardens Halloween celebration, held the week before Halloween. It’s been altered to allow for the pandemic, but still happening. There’s a restaurant close by, with a large patio, where we’re planning to have dinner, afterwards . On Halloween night, we’ll carve a pumpkin, have a family dinner and watch a movie. Hocus Pocus is one of our favorites for Halloween. Since trick or treating is discouraged, we’ll keep the pumpkin in the house. Still, we can enjoy the night.
Although, some years we’ve gone to a restaurant for Thanksgiving, it’s easy to have a celebratory dinner at home. Patio dining in November, in Colorado, could be a little chilly. If you can’t get together with your family, Zoom or FaceTime are options. I’ve heard the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is still happening. That means starting the morning, in front of the television with coffee and cinnamon rolls.
At this time, we make adjustments and do what we can to celebrate the holidays with family and friends. Recognizing that for many, keeping a roof over their head and food on the table are their main concerns. If you have been blessed with more than you need, consider sharing with those not as fortunate.
