Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.
Henry Ford
I am all for staying young for as long as possible. I believe, in many ways, it’s a state of mind. You’ve probably heard the old cliche, “You’re as old as you feel.” I would say, “You’re as old as you think”. We can’t stop the years from flying by, but we can control how we feel about them. I looked up synonyms for aging. They include crumbling, declining, wearing out, and fading. The least objectionable is mellowing. Perhaps, like a fine wine.
For me, part of staying young is continuing to learn something new. I thought about this when I signed up for a class on blogging, last spring. I had been interested in blogs for awhile and I thought it might be something I would like to do. As the times drew closer, I wondered if I have the skills necessary to complete the project. The email from the instructor said we would be setting up our own blog. I thought this would just be a class offering information. Despite my concerns, I followed through and realized it wasn’t that difficult.
We live in different times. People live longer and are more active. Why shouldn’t age just be a number? I have no attention of being subjugated by years. I plan on making the most of every day for as long as they are given.
